Uganda Weather/ Best time to Visit Uganda
Uganda has one of the best tropical climate which is attributed to its, location as the country sits at the equator. Temperatures range from 10 degrees Celsius to 30 Degrees Celsius. Uganda receives rainfall, especially during the months of mid-March to May and November. The other months are dry, however we do receive showers of rain. The difference between the rains in Uganda and elsewhere or the western world is that it will rain for a couple of hours and then stops and shines even during the rainy season. So this means that you can take on any Uganda safari anytime of the year.
How to Get to Uganda.
Uganda, can be accessed by air, through Entebbe International Airport. Or through neighboring countries like Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. For those who require a visa to enter Uganda, you have to apply for it online, and an approval letter will be shared with you after filling the online form. You can then present this letter at the point of entry in-order to be allowed to enter.
Uganda has a national carrier however the airline doesn’t fly everywhere, but some of the popular airlines to use include KLM, Brussels, Kenya Airways, Turkish Airline, Rwanda Air to mention but a few.
Safety Whilst in Uganda.
Uganda is a safe country as it is home to some of the most welcoming people in the world. Uganda has diverse cultures and they are all welcoming and loving and people are very much willing to show you around. Yes, pick pocketers, are available every-where and so they are also available in Uganda, but you have to keep your valuables safe in safes boxes that hotels provide.
We recommend to always carry your passport on you, because it is required to enter some places and sites or do some activities like gorilla tracking.
• Avoid walking dark places
• Always stay in the company of the guides or park rangers
• In cities, avoid displaying expensive gadgets.
Health;
Like the rest of the world, currently Uganda is going through a COVID-19 pandemic and therefore standard operational procedures are followed. However apart from that, you are advised to take a Yellow fever Vaccine and also Malaria vaccine before you travel to Uganda.
And while you are in hotels, always use the mosquito nets provided as a way of protecting yourself from Malaria.
Language:
English is the national language, however local languages are widely spoken. Do not be offended if someone calls you “Muzungu” this is commonly used word to refer to a white person or tourists. Most people can speak English especially in tourists site. So do not worry you will be able to communicate.
Tipping:
Tipping is not mandatory but as a way of appreciating the services provided by some people, we recommend a tip of up to. 10 to 15 USD per day for guides and for the hotel service men, there is always a tip box at the reception.
